Company: Profile

In 1996, juveniles accounted for nearly one-fifth, 19 percent, of all criminal arrests in the United States. Polls taken in 2001 reveal that 62% of Americans believe that juvenile crime is on the increase. According to the Gallup Poll, Americans believe juveniles are responsible for 43% of violent crime in the U.S. 71% of respondents to a Wall Street Journal poll believe a school shooting is likely in their school. Citizen's fear of disorder and juvenile crime is neither an unreasonable nor extreme reaction, since disorder precedes or accompanies serious crime and urban decay (Skogan and Maxfield, 1990).

This rapid rise in juvenile delinquency turning into criminal activity has become an international concern. Anomic Solutions was formed to combat this distressing trend. The company name was derived from its mission. The word "anomic" means: (1) Social instability caused by erosion of standards and values, or (2) Alienation and purposelessness experienced by a person or a class as a result of a lack of standards, values, or ideals. (Source: The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition, Copyright © 2000). Children's crime is certainly a by-product, as well as cause, of anomic conditions. Furthermore, the word "solutions" represents the company's clear-cut commitment to create cogent countermeasures against the continuing concern of children's crime.

Anomic Solution's first product is the hardcover children's book Graffiti In Tahiti. Each of the three principles contributed their expertise to the project. They produced its story, illustrations, designs, and digital layout.
